- Abstract
The deicing and snow melting methods frequently used and their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed at first, then the working principle on deicing by electrically conductive concrete is introduced. Based on the energy conservation law, the minimum power required for deicing and snow melting is determined. The curve of power output versus voltage of carbon fiber reinforced concrete (CFRC) is measured in laboratory; the experimental results show that the thermal energy produced in CFRC connected to DC power source is enough for deicing and snow melting purpose.
